[뉴스인] 민경찬 기자 = 세바파트너스(조성진 대표)는 12일 오후 서울 강남구 삼성동 옹기아트센터에서 BTM 방탄 투명 마스크 제작 발표회 "절대 미소를 잃지 마세요"를 열었다. 

조성진 대표는 제품을 설명하면서 신종 코로나바이러스(코로나19)가 발생한 후 팬데믹까지 올 것으로 전문가들조차 예상치 못한 상황에서 20년 넘는 외국 출장 경험으로 서양인들의 마스크 착용이 우리나라와 같지 않을 거라는 판단으로 "마스크지만 마스크가 아닌 마스크를 만들어보자"는 고민이 지금의 방탄 마스크 제작으로 이어졌다고 말했다.

조 대표는 BTM 개발 당시만 해도 코로나가 언제까지 갈지, 디자인부터 기능과 가격에서 소비자들의 반응이 어떨지 등등을 분석하는 것은 물론 신개념의 세계 최초 투명 마스크이다 보니 벤치마킹할만한 제품이 없어 시행착오가 많았고 이후 완성 시점에는 국내는 물론 나라별 인증 역시 기준이 없어 난항을 겪었다고 고충을 털어놨다.

그런 어려움 끝에 지금은 미국 식품의약처(FDA) 등록은 물론 항균 FITI 시험과 KC 전자파 유해인증 및 KF94 마스크 제조사로부터 3중 필터를 OEM으로 제작해 코로나19 대처용 전문 제품으로 출시하게 됐다고 밝혔다.

"돈키호테 같은 생각으로 개발에 나서니 상상했던 것이 현실이 됐다"라며 "세계 최초라는 자부심으로 부족한 면이 있으면 보완 개선할 것이고 앞으로 에어컨 마스크, 온풍기 마스크, AI 마스크 등을 만들 것"이라며 포부를 밝히기도 했다. 조 대표는 이 마스크를 조 바이든 미국 대통령 당선인에게도 보냈고 문재인 대통령 내외에게도 보낼 예정이라며 품질에 자신감을 내비쳤다. 

그간 일반 마스크가 황사·미세먼지를 염두에 둔 제품이라면 BTM은 발명·개발부터 코로나19를 겨냥한 기능성과 가격적인 면을 전제 조건으로 개발이 이뤄져 이른바 '코로나19 최적화' 제품이라고 할 수 있다. 

본체 소재는 아기가 태어나 처음 접하는 인공 젖꼭지 소재인 실리콘으로 다양한 얼굴 유형에도 착용 가능한 유연성과 끓는 물에 소독해도 원형이 변형되지 않는 탁월한 소재에 항균 동을 배합, 바이러스 예방에 중점을 뒀다. 

환·통풍기는 마스크 내부로 흡입되는 공기를 필터(KF94 3중 필터)를 통해 신선한 공기가 유입됨은 물론 인체로부터 배출되는 이산화탄소를 팬으로 강제 배출하도록 설계해 들숨과 날숨 시 마스크 내부의 공기 질을 항상 신선하게 유지하는 데 중점을 뒀다. 

조성진 대표는 "지금껏 한 번도 경험하지 못한 코로나 시대를 살면서 이제는 마스크도 의복화되었기 때문에 기능과 패션을 겸비한 코로나19용 전문 마스크가 전 세계에서 속속 개발돼 인류에 이바지 하길 기대한다"라며 "BTM 마스크로 전세계가 인정한 K-방역의 우수성을 또 한 번 세계에 알리는 계기가 되길 바란다"라고 말했다.  

제품 설명에 이어 경찰, 승무원, 간호사, 일상복 등 다양한 직업군의 복장을 한 국내·외 모델들이 제품 착용 후 무대를 누비며 얼굴을 가리지 않는 마스크의 특장점을 보여주기도 했다.   

세바파트너스는 지난 9월 10일 한국무역협회와 이노디자인이 공동으로 주최한 제4회 김영세 스타트업 디자인 오디션 참가 '우수기업'으로 선정됐으며 싱가포르 기업 크렉스피아의 심사평가 플랫폼 IRO를 통해 총 15개국(미국, 중국, 말레이시아 등)의 바이오, 스타트업, 의약품, 패션, 유통, 디자인 전문가들로부터 사업성, 안정성, 디자인, 실용성, 가격 분야에서 최고 평가인 'A'(IRO Innovation 9.07)를 받은 바 있다. 

SEBA Partners Launches transparent ‘BT-Mask’

SEBA Partners, a subsidiary of SEBA Group announced its transparent face-mask brand ‘BT-Mask’ in the launching event held in Ramada Seoul Hotel, as an attempt to respond to the intensifying global COVID-19 pandemic.
While showcasing the award-winning BT-Mask models, SEBA Partners representative Sungjin Cho stated in his speech that the BT-Masks is the world’s first advanced and sustainable transparent face-mask that can be put to pragmatic use in various fields of work and daily lives.

Representative Cho also said, despite how plain the idea can be, the development of the BT-Masks wasn’t an easy task. Since the start of the development of the BT-Masks earlier this year, there were no other products to benchmark from, nor did the product fit into certification categories.

However, with successful development of the product, the BT-Mask boasts ergonomic design, anti-fogging film layer, antimicrobial functionality, and long service life. The BT-Mask is now FDA registered, KC Electronic Product Safety Standard certified, and was cleared through a series of FITI Antimicrobial tests. The filters that can be slipped into the mask valves are OEM produced from KF94 certified facilities.

The mask body is harmless to human body, as it’s made of silicon that’s typically used in pacifiers for newborn babies. The mask was also developed to have antimicrobial functionality in order for the wearer to be better protected against the spreading virus.
Furthermore, SEBA BT-Mask Model-1 was designed to include an auto-emission device attached on the side of the mask, allowing the carbon dioxide to continuously be emitted out of the air-pocket.
